Check the link below on any state agency and you will be shocked as I was to see what we pay government officals! California has a huge budget deficit and the situation only gets worse for the state and many people in California are facing layoffs and had to readjust their finances to meet ends meet. Type in corrections and place in dentist and you see what some dentists are making. Now can anyone explain to me why we are paying a dentist this kind of money and if you look at the salaries of other government employees they receive the same kind of compensation, but don’t forget we also have to pay their retirement as well? The people of this state have made sacrifices but our government seems to be exempt! If you want to balance the budget start reducing the salary of these individuals and make it more in line with the private sector.

I was blown away at the amounts these guys are getting, it is absolutely disgusting, but I guess I should not be surprised at the endless spending by leaders of the Socialist Republic of California. Especially when the guys risking their lives (i.e. cops, fire, and military) are getting a small fraction of that.
ReplyDeleteI do have to make a point of correction regarding state retirement. They may not all be this way, but CALPERS (of which I am a retired member) is not funded by the state. The money is controlled and disbursed by the state, but the funds are contributed by the individual employees. The retiree payments are funded by the contributed money that has been invested in the market; it is no different than a 401k that you could get from any other employer. We do get a set amount each month, but the CalPers system is one of (if not the only) state system that is actually self sustaining. The tax payers are not cutting a check each month for each retiree.
